Word did not save the document.

A couple days ago, it was Excel that would not save documents. Today it is Word. Microsoft Word's error message identifies the name of the file that it failed to save, but still provides nothing useful in correcting the problem.

Too many edits

Microsoft Word 2003 has this great feature that tells you when you are done editing your document.

Sorry, too many edits. Time is up. You must stop editing and save your work as it is now.

The disk is full

According to Microsoft Word 2003, a disk may be considered full when one tries to save a ~600,000 byte file to a disk with only 171,057,172,480 bytes free.

Microsoft Word 2007 won't let me create a mile long paper size.

Maybe a mile is not a reasonable paper size, but why a 22 inch limit? I've printed on paper longer than that with other applications.

Reboot to Save

After making updates to a document in Microsoft Word 2007, I press the Save button.



Configuring? I told it to save.

Seven minutes later, the Microsoft Office setup tells me I need to reboot to complete setup.



What about the changes I wanted to save? Were they saved?  Saving should not require a reboot.

I click the No button. The Setup program starts up again.



Six minutes later, an error dialog appears.

Error 1719.  What does that mean?

Contact my support personnel?  That would be me.



I am not at all OK with having spent the last 13 minutes trying to save a document and getting nowhere -- but I click the OK button anyway.  (Where's the "I'm frustrated and just want to make this error go away" button?)



I now stare at my screen -- uncertain if my document has been saved.

I press the Save button again. The Setup program launches... :(

@theericfoster: You know it's a bad day when you get an error message from MS Office in half Spanish.. 

The number must be between 1 and 45

I configure Microsoft Word to format text I selected as two evenly distributed columns.



After making my selections, I click the OK button in the Columns configuration window.




I get an error.

What number must be between 1 and 45? What number on this form is not between 1 and 45?

Fatal envelope error? I didn't even know I had an envelope.

Fatal? Does Outlook have deadly envelopes? Envelope data lost but document is available? Why should I care about an envelope I didn't know I had? What!?
