Honesty is a good practice

@exoticapple: haha greatest error alert i've seen

While I respect honesty, do they really not know, or did they choose to not code more helpful error reporting?

Something prevented the text engine

@AllieG: - Photoshop, quit failing. Does anyone know how to deal with this error message?

I don't know what Allie was trying to do, but this doesn't seem to be a very helpful user-facing error message.

Banana Error 500

@canadiabeats: JHM's gift to the internet: banana error 500

Humor can help manage user frustration when software fails. Someone at Trade Me has a healthy sense of humor.  I like it. :)

It's probably Matt's fault

“Haha, being funny always works :-D Wordpress.org 503 Error” - @iralchev

Now, here's an interesting way to motivate developers: Name the person who likely created the error. Rather than a stack trace, display the name of the developer who last checked in the code that failed? ;)

What is technically wrong? What did I notice?

  • I don't think I noticed anything but what you see in the following screenshot.
  • What is technically wrong?
  • If they aren't aware of what is wrong how would they know is it technical or non technical?
  • What are the non technical things that could go wrong?

Do you also notice that sentence that has information thanking me for noticing the problem, itself is hardly noticeable? I mean what you can or cannot read below the "Something is technically wrong".
