What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Wanting to know what's playing at local movie theaters tonight, I search Google for "gilbert movie theaters".
The results include showtimes for a local theater here in Gilbert, Arizona. They also include "Places" results for nearby Tempe, Arizona. (Google has incorrectly auto-detected that I am in Tempe.)
I click the top link for results at the local, Gilbert, theater.
And what do I get?
Instead of a list of movies and showtimes at the local theater, Google proclaims "No showtimes were found for What's Eating Gilbert Grape? on Aug 20."
It has changed my location from Tempe to Gilbert. However, it appears to have also carried my original search term into a search engine that expects movie titles.

Your search did not match any document
While installing software, I encounter the following error.
I open up a web browser and go to Google and search for the name of the file in the error message.
Google says it found nothing. What!? There's a Windows system file for which Google can find nothing on the web!?
And why am I presented with an option to select pages from no results?
It seems Google was temporarily broken. After a few retries, I get results. Go ahead. Try it. What do you get?

Get outta my way
I like Picasa. I use it regularly for basic photo editing. However, even software I like comes with annoyances -- things that bug me. I call them bugs. You can see one of them below.
No, not the cat shredding a whole roll of toilet paper. The "Histogram & Camera Information" box covers up the thumbnails of the images I've selected -- selected to upload, email, print, blog, etc. I've found no way to make this box go away while viewing an image. This prevents me from viewing or changing the selected images. This is a problem.

Catch me if you can
Geordie Keitt reports:
Google has added Gmail Tasks to the suite of Gmail tools, but it might not be ready for prime time. When I open the pop-out tasks window, select a task to view its details, and then select the dropdown list of task lists to change the list it is on, the list of lists pops up above the control, then below the control, then above the control, then below…
It appears to depend on exactly where on the down-arrow I click. This makes me suspicious that there are other twitchy behaviors laying in wait for me. I’d be interested to see if this is the tip of an iceberg of deeper problems.

Mobile GMail: Where art thou?
There seems to be a problem with mobile GMail. I don't know what 0x8007054f means but it doesn't seem to be a good thing. I can't get to my email. Windows Mobile won't let me select and copy text from a dialog. I'm going to have to try to remember this number in order to search for the error code.
A Google search for the code reveals a bunch of results about errors installing Windows XP updates. No help there. I'll have to wait and read email when I can get to a computer.
I am still getting the error 10 hours later.

Some times I get the above instead of the error 0x8007054f dialog. I can access other web sites, so I don't think it is a problem with my wireless carrier.

Googling for Gmail and clicking a link in the results gives the same error.
I try a different browser. SkyFire can access the full-featured Gmail.

However, continually zooming and panning to read and write email on the tiny phone screen is going to be cumbersome.
I want my mobile Gmail back.

@matthodder: I know this old and simple- but man I love this gmail feature.
Sometimes software presents pleasant surprises and saves us from our own mistakes. Nice one Google.

200% Complete, or Failed
While attempting to upload an image for the previous problem, I see the following.

Well yes, there is a problem here.
My image does not appear to be uploading. The progress bar stayed at 0% while the title bar says the upload is 200% complete.
So I tell it to upload again.

Now, I have a second upload of the image in the queue and the first appears to not be going anywhere. The title bar shows 100% complete. So what was 200% of one file is 100% of two?
I cancel the uploads.

Giving up on that method, I try to upload from the Picasa photo viewer instead of the main Picasa program. This time it works instantly.

ranecloude: If iPhone's google maps keeps getting me lost, I'm going to have to seriously consider getting a better gps phone. The highway was less than a mile away.

Perhaps if one selects walking directions...

temporaryReadFailure

You're sorry? Not as much as I am for having chosen to use Google Docs for this document at this particular time.
A temporaryReadFailure doesn't tell me much. I need to access my document now, not later. The Google Docs Help Center just reveals that I'm not the only one with this problem. Based on others' complaints in the Help Center, it appear that temporary could last a day or more.
My document ended up being inaccessible for several hours. This kind of error gives me reason to question the sense of using Google Docs for important work that needs to be accessible. However, I still like it and use it -- but question its value for time-sensitive work.
In Google's defense, this is a free service and they do have a paid business Google Docs service with live support. Perhaps paying business customers can get this error fixed right away.
