Your Kindle software is updating

I've got nothing about systems that update their own software. However, ones that force updates often do so at very inopportune times. Here's an idea: let users select when the update gets installed.

Your Kindle Needs Repair
Not cool to have a new Kindle fail. Cool that software detects and reports the need to send the device in for repair -- but only if it really needs repair. Is the issue requiring repair a software or hardware issue?

Windows 95 upgrade on floppies. Anyone?
There is a context-sensitive Amazon advertisement banner at the bottom of this blog's pages. It is supposed to display products for purchase on Amazon that are related to the page's content.
Often, when a page refers to Microsoft Windows, I see the item on the right below.

Of all the products available for purchase on Amazon, this thing selects a Windows 95 Upgrade on floppy disks? Are there no other products more relevent than this?
Like maybe one of these? ;-)
Now, if you are in the market for a more recent OS, here are some options:

Choose a Department
I'm looking for a book. I go to Amazon perform a search based on the author's name. I don't see what I'm looking for on the first page of results and want to change the sorting of the results. Instead of a sort option, there's a Department link with a message stating "Choose a Department to enable sorting." So I click the link to select a department.
Wow! So many options. I guess I'll select Books.

Is there a problem here? Am I expecting too much to think the Amazon search engine might show me sortable book results if all the results for my search are books? Might sending me to book results create a new problem?
