Swearing in code; Insulting the customer

Software developers sometimes goof around. Some goof often.

Software developers sometimes get angry. Some anger often.

Software developers sometimes swear. Some swear often.

Software developers sometimes relieve stress by goofing around with code and data.

Software developers sometimes express themselves in code that makes it to users. Some offend.

Be careful what you code.

Code review much?

Just over 25 years ago I worked in Customer Support for a large software company. I fielded a call from a customer who wanted to know why our software was being abusive.

It appears one of the programmers did exactly the same thing you posted about the Lenovo website.

He admitted he did this all the time. He found it motivating to have the computer abuse him when he made a mistake. He intended to fix the error messages but missed a couple.

14 years ago I was doing code review on an application. Found swearing in the source code. That did not make it to the customer.

Kind of sad this is still happen. Even more sad is no one caught it.
