Silverlight plugin not found

"silverlight"? Wow. Good work, Microsoft. - @OllyHodgson

If one can click OK to install the Silverlight plugin now, why is a long URL displayed? And if a user needs to do something with the URL, couldn't Microsoft have provided a slightly shorter one?

And why does Sharepoint need Silverlight?

1. Injection Injection: Injection flaws occur when untrusted data is sent to an interpreter as part of a command. The attacker’s hostile data can trick the interpreter into executing unintended commands or accessing data without authorization.
2. Broken authentication and session management Broken authentication and session management: Application functions related to authentication and session management are often not implemented correctly, allowing attackers to compromise passwords, keys, or session tokens, or to exploit other implementation flaws to assume other users’ identities.
