Insufficient Funds

A friend received the following insufficient funds notice from her bank. Is there a problem here?

The bank returned her rent check due to insufficient funds when there was sufficient money in the account to cover the check. The notice from the bank also indicates that there were sufficient funds in the account.

If bank software can't do simple math, we're in big trouble.

  1. it subtracted the balance to the check amount. awesome math. Next time she should "really" overdraft, so she can issue checks more than her balance and the bank will probably honor it

  2. So it appears, Perze. But if the bank can't get a minus sign right, what gives us confidence that ANY of the information is correct?

  3. What could be the issue is the balance is not being considered in this case. It's some other amount that is causing the issue.

  4. Why should some amount other than the balance be considered? If this is the case, why should the notice offer an amount other than what is considered for consideration?
